Decide your turnaround before you climb, and bind the you of that day
Write your turnaround rules — time, place, weather — before you set out, so the sunk-cost softness at the summit runs into a commitment you already made: a Ulysses contract.
US$5, bought once. Payment is handled by Gumroad. JPY pricing is planned for the future Google Play editions.
From buying it to using it offline
- Buy on Gumroad and your license key arrives in the receipt email.
- Swap that key for an unlock code at ektopos.app/redeem, then paste the code into the app.
- You need the internet only the first time (about 10–12 MB). After that it runs with no signal.
What it does
- Fix a rule before departure: “turn back if not at ◯◯ by this time”
- On the day you only check against it — turning a wavering into a checklist
- Kept as a record you can use to shape the next outing’s rules
What it does not do
- Works offline · no account · one-time purchase · no tracking · no ads
- Not a device that tracks your position and warns you; you check against the rule, it does not enforce
- It will not retreat for you. It hands the you-of-the-day over to the you-who-planned
When it helps
Hikers who push “just a bit further” and want a brake set in advance
